Thomas Kern is a driven, art-obsessed expressionist - everything has to come out, and in his language: art. If "dekern" cannot grasp something immediately, he is sure to quickly find a creative tool: performance, color, scrap, sounds or words, and he does so with a lot of humor and philosophical understanding. He looks where others have long since looked away in shame or disgust. With his unerring feeling for colors, shapes and composition, he creates works with depth and stirring lightness at lightning speed. It is not uncommon for him to prick open, social wounds with his brush.
 Thomas Kern is the nephew of Georg Baselitz.
